(Nicely knitted sock grabbed via Google Image from some terribly talented knitter)
I was browsing a string sale and saw a ball with a pic of some cozy-looking, thick socks and I thought to myself, "Self! You could totally do that!!"
So I did.
(Me and my socks in my breakfast room)
The pattern that came with the string was inaccurate so a granny at the yarn shop had to rewrite parts of it for me, but once that was taken care of, it wasn't even really hard.My socks were knit on size thirteen needles, which are thicker than your average-sized pen.
Mr. Logo said they look like battle socks,
which goes nicely with the scar on the knee, hm?

those socks look toasty, nice job!
i am totally impressed! socks have always struck me as a rather difficult item. i've only ever done a scarf.
Nice gams...woo hoo! The only thing I've ever tried to use knitting needles on is a plate of chicken lo mein....

my gran used to knit me socks like that to wear in bed when I was a young whipper snapper. If you stick a bit of leather on the bottom they make great slippers too.
Van~ They are toasty, in fact, they are so nice Thing One keep stealing them and STRETCHING them out, grrrrrr
Lime~ These were actually pretty simple, although some socks definitely appear more complicated.
Coop~ Thanks, they're the ones I was issued and despite walking them in front of a moving car they seem to work pretty well for me.
Nessa~ They are, in the words of the knitting shop granny, "...not elegant." but I am comppletely ok with that. :D
Cathy~ Ooooo, yes they would make great slippers,
interrrrresting ideeeeeaaaa....
OMG I am so impressed! I am sorry I am late for checking out these socks, but I cannot believe that people can make socks...
As you know, I am quite handy with a needle and thread but as soon as yarn comes into the picture, I am all toes...
Very nicely done! I cant wait to see more. BTW those little peach socks look very fancy but wow, what a lot of time to put into something that you put on your smelly feet! I am always a fan of the quicker more practical stuff like your cozy sox!
Susie~ ok, you wouldn't BELIEVE the time some people put into stuff.
Maybe I am the equivalent of the pre-school knitter with my thicker tools but I tell you what, it's the only way I'm willing to try some of this stuff!
