Does anyone else find it titter-worthy that if you go with their first names you end up with
John Thomas.
If you aren't a Monty Python fan, never mind.
If so, guess what song I'm humming now ;D
My children have been reading a lot of Calvin and Hobbes lately but we just picked up audio books of The Hobbit and The Complete Tales of Uncle Remus.
Thing Two LOVES the story about Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox,
"Do anything, anything at all, only PLEEEEEEEASE don't throw me in the brier patch!"
Thing One has been working on a PowerPoint show to illustrate the Rudyard Kipling story, How the Whale Got His Throat. We have a recording of Just So Stories and the Things have been listening to them a ton also.
Hey, anything that get them away from the video games for a while has to be good, right?

that's a TON better than videogames!
Can I come read at your house?
That was always my favorite Uncle Remus also.

i also loved uncle remus stories as a kid. i just loved de tar baby.
Video games are bad. We do lots of things to keep ours off of the games too.
I like a bit of Monty Python myself.
Have a great weekend, what's left of it.
A D.H. Laurence musical?
What??? Homeschoolers that are allowed to play video games? What in the world. :) At least they can read.
My Bear and I just had a lengthy discussion about de tar baby - one of my absolute favs. I loved Just So Stories as a kid - and in fact I've never forgotten them. I need to find my copy and get down!
Furiousball~ Ok, but really, what isn't??
Nessa~ Anytime, sweetcheeks, anytime
Weirsdo~ Yah, I like that one and the tar baby too.
Lime~ They like Far Side too
Breazy~ We do enjoy the occasional wii golf family tournament, but for the most part I don't think of the video games as a meanful part of family life.
Doug~ Lady Jane has nothing to do with this one. Did none of you people see MP's Meaning of Life?
Drew~ That's not even the worst of it. Le Gasp!
Terry~ You snuck in while I was typing my last comment!
Just So Stories are fun and the kids got the audio version at the library read by Geoffrey Palmer who has a suitable British accent and does an amazing job.
The Uncle Remus tales are great and I'm quite pleased at how much the Things are enjoying them.
Which audio of The Hobbit? The dramatisation drove us insane, but we love the Rob Inglis one. So if you don't end up liking whichever you have, you might try the other. :)
