When they were handing out melanin I was busy doing the cross-legged "Where is the bathroom" dance

First, to deal with old business, here is my newly decorated tray in its appointed place. Here it sits, awaiting the moment it will be snagged up and used to transport drinks and snacks. Now onto new business. Sunburns seem to be a recent topic topic with some popularity.
This is one of the products I have to prevent them.
I have several, if not many.
This is the second bottle of baby sunscreen so far this year.

Why, you may ask, do we have baby sunscreen when there are clearly no babies in the house? Because a side effect of being one allele away from an albino is that you also have very sensitive skin. Regular sunscreen can cause chemical burns, almost as much fun as a fun burn, and without the fresh air!

Just to prove my point, look below, not a tan line to be found.

Well, I decided to try a gradual tan product for LIGHT skin.
Unfortunately, even THAT was too dark. After one application I had brownish streaks.

I think perhaps even building a tan might not work for me.

Some of us were destined to be white,

embrace the madness, and bring some shades.

When we are together, you can be the white one and I'll be the tanned one, ok! :P

Ack im too mean.

Girl, your tray is divine. Can we have tea and diet coke on it when I come there? Or, would that diet coke be NOT welcome on the tray cuz coke spills are known to corrode surfaces! :P

I did a 55 girl! Off to IKEA...

BTW, did you know when they were passing out legs I got in the egg line on accident?
That's right, two round white fat eggs, er thighs.....

well see it's like this....
i HAD sunblock. i did, honest. i had smeared my arms legs and had someone smear my back. i just got distracted and forgot the bits most prone to burning. it's sorta like birth control....it only works when i use it. and since limelette #1 is a pale redhead we stick with neutrogena for sensitive skin, everything else gives her a rash, even the baby sunblock.

now for the wining....
i wanna come to seattle....waaaaahhhh

I think I may even be whiter. Since I have skin cancer, I avoid the sun. Period.

Nice tray. When you do my bathroom, can you make whip up a few of them, too?

I have a strangely random assortment of tan patches. It's not pretty. :-P

Build-a-Tan has the Bob the Builder theme running through my head.

I'm so white I glow. My friends all giggle when I pull out my spf 70...it takes me a long time to find sunscreen I like....then they stop making it. Arrgh.

Ha, I'm the only red head in the world that doesn't get freckles and can tan like a mofo. This is because I was born in Arizona.

Logo, this is where a total creep would say that you have nice gams.

Susie~ Honey, I am almost ALWAYS the white one, I am accustom to it. I prefer to think of it as the one with minimal skin damage.
(snicker snicker) Diet Coke? Bring it on, there is enough sealant on that tray now no mere drink with damage it.

Goldennib~ With two small remote misplacers in my world I have found this is the best method, they go in the box, always in the box, only in the box!!

Lime~ This No-Ad sunblock is one of the very few I can use on all of us without anyone getting the rash. Also, you very rarely see me sitting in the sun, I am the one under the tree, or a good sized hat. Seattle is waaaaaaiting for you!

Fred~ I don't avoid it entirely, but I pretty much look like I do. We had a neighbor who had skin cancer when I was a kid, it made a big impression. As for your bathroom; a couple nice decorated boxes for towels and wash clothes, maybe some nice pieces to hold what-nots on the counter, and some co-ordinating art work for the wall? I think it could work!

Candace~ Tan patches are unique and...um, fun. Go with it! The tan looks more like it was made by Spud.

Pants~ I had some 70! It broke out Thing Two though. There is a 65 SPF that we can all use but it is about twice as much as this stuff. I just make them reapply often and it seems to work. As for glowing, I just keep telling myself it really is healthier, eventually I feel sure I'll believe it.

Seamus~ 10 of them even :p
Happy Friday!

Vera~ They aren't on fire! It is just a streak of tannish orange, not flames!

Grunt~ Nice to know the injustices of the world work out in the favor of people I know on occasion, but I think you can thank your First Nations relatives rather than the state of your birth.
Thanks for the compliment, ya creep.
:p

Since Vanessa is a shade away from clear, we keep the no-ad baby block on hand at all times.

As for self tanners - try L'Oreal Sublime Bronze. It is tinted so you know exacty where its going. I love it.

oddly, the no-ad is the worst stuff in terms of causing rashes in these here parts. we aviod it like the plague.

Oh -- I forgot to tell ya sumpin..

Before you apply a self tanner, you should exfoliate the area(s) you plan to tan.

I found my favorite sunscreen online for twelve bucks....if I buy a bunch of it, the shipping might be worth it.

holy damn..nice stems... wowza. ;-)

Snavylyn~ I think I am officially giving up. I did exfoliate first, the dark bit was not my knee, which would have made sense, but my shin, weird. If I try again I will bear your suggestion in mind, ta, Luv!

Lime~ There for a while, with the kids, I had to use this stuff from the health food store, at a mere $15 an ounce. They appear to be OK with this kind... for now.

Pants~ I hear ya, Drugstore.com has made a haul off me.

Damasta~ Thanks, chica

We're all akin to Casper here, but gradually we'll tan (hubby and our oldest first; the little one and me after the fact). Strangely enough, we all tan rather naturally here in VA far better than when we vacation in Aruba. Go figure!

We started shalacking ourselves in the Coppertone Continuous Spray. We use 30 and we put 50 on the girls. Yet, somehow we all managed to get some color.

And I wanna come to Seattle too. *joining Lime's waaaaaaaa...*

I had to check what day it was. Are you allowed to do that on a non-Thursday?! I am white like a mushroom. I avoid going outside.

Logophile said...

Blither~ I love the way those really coconutty ones smell, but they are always SPF 2, and that just ain't gonna cut it. The baby ones are next best though, its true.

Sar~ I did tan a bit in Italy, compared to everyone there it didn't show, but when I came home for a visit everyone who recalled my typically Casper-ish coloring commented on it.
As for the whining, GET OVER HERE already!!

Weirsdo~ What can I say, I'm a rebel. I thought for sure Pansi would approve though.

Am I the only tanned one here? Sheesh

I do not use sunblock except for on my tattoos. I rarely burn, except that weekend there in Bass Lake, I have to admit that I did burn my thighs and they did peel.....I think that is just the second or third time in my life that Ive ever had a sunburn....

Whats that? I hear a song....

Casper the friendly ghost
the friendliest ghost you know...

Susie~ accumulated skin damage, girl, that is what that is, just remember that (heh heh heh).
My ghostly unwrinkled self is quite content, thank you.
