This is what you get...

when you encourage me. Perhaps you will all learn your lesson about this.
Here is the story:
Gong gong allo there lived a gritty pearl.
She was married to a man who was going through a "let's move to Montana" phase. She was taking a writing class at the time and used her huband's unseemly affection for Montana as inspiration for a poem.

The works of Christopher Marlowe and Ogden Nash, as featured on Friday, were clearly an influence on this piece. Unfortunately I could not find the original but a few of you were kind, or foolish, or brave enough to say I should rewrite it, so I have, including what I could recall and extrapolating the rest. Here is my version.

The Isolationist To His Love

Come live with me and be my love
And we will all the pleasures prove
That Montana wilds can provide us
Quiet living and a log cabin palace.

I've seen the beauty of a simpler life
No commuting or crowds, freedom from strife
Self-sufficiency and home grown food
Don't roll your eyes, its all in the attitude.

There may not be beaches, but there's mountains galore
And after a while you won't mind anymore
It's true that the snow may cause distress
Especially when blocking our points of egress.

I know you won't find malls stocked with Clinique
But skin care won't matter to the ranchers and sheep.
There's hunting and fishing, which I know you don't do
But if you look hard enough you'll find things you'll like too.

Let's move to the land of the wide open sky
Give me your hand, dear, and make your reply
If these pleasures your mind may move
Then live with me, and be my love.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And just so you can understand my resistance to that idea, here is a typical view from my part of the world.
Too bad I can't just teleport myself at will and go to all the beautiful places in the world. But at least I can come to your blog, Logo, and catch some nice scenery of the North West and even Montana. Thanks!
Grunt~ Aw, you are very welcome any old time! I have occasionally wished for transporter technology, usually about half way to Portland, Oregon. Right about that point getting there by car gets a little tedious.
Shez~ You are a fabulous writer! It is always fun to pop in when you have something new to enjoy.
HEY EVERYONE! Shez does some great stories, she is in the links as
SHEZLING, check it out.
Damasta~ Thanks! We had a fun Easter, candy and egg hunting, so the kids were pleased, Good chocolates, baked pineapple, ham and a nap, so I was pleased. Good day all the way around.
Weirsdo~ My answer when he talks about moving to Montana has always been, "Wow, have fun, I'll miss you, write often."
I need the water and the attitude. I am doomed to be a child of the Left Coast.
I think I have been to that outlook and seen the same view..sans cargo ship...
Hey wait..that my cargoship cruise! Had my first booking to Rangoon
Left coasters unite! I just couldnt be land locked like Montanans are......
And isnt that MY cargo ship coming to pick me up, Idiot, so I can get to India cheaply?
Lovely job on the rewrite, Logo!
*Clap, clap, clap, clap, clap*
I'm proud of my role as an instigator.
My favorite lines, "Don't roll your eyes, its all in the attitude." and
"I know you won't find malls stocked with Clinique
But skin care won't matter to the ranchers and sheep."
My sister went through the same thing with her husband. Her best line that I heard was "Jim married the most sarcastic, bitter girl in the world and now he wants to drag my happy @$$ to Montana?"
Kat~ Thanks!
Doug~ Glad to meet with your approval. I think I like your whole family!
When we were in Montana a little more than a year ago, I keep repeating, It's beautiful! And it truly is.
'Course, I'm more of a mall rat myself.
I love the poem. Love it!
