Tuesday Trivia

Yay for Tan Lucy Pez, our winner last week with 90!
Second place went to The Idiot and Doug was third.
Congratulations to you three.
Oh, and this is the last Tuesday in April,
will you all be sad to see an end to the poetry triv?

I shall now subject you to some quote by one of my favorite poets.
~~~~~~~~~~
Among those whom I like or admire, I can find no common denominator,
but among those whom I love, I can:
all of them make me laugh.
~~~~~~~~~~
Desire, even in its wildest tantrums, can neither persuade me it is love nor stop me from wishing it were.
~~~~~~~~~~
No opera plot can be sensible, for people do not sing when they are feeling sensible.
~~~~~~~~~~
We are here on Earth to do good to others. What the others are here for, I don't know.
~~~~~~~~~~
To save your world you asked this man to die; Would this man, could he see you now, ask why?
Epitaph for an Unknown Soldier
~~~~~~~~~~
W. H. Auden

And on that note,
Your quiz awaits...

ACK, the last question of the quiz contains a wrong answer.
Sorry, the quiz writer clicked the wrong "W____" name.
My abject apologies. It was late, I was on Niquil, the sun was spotting, the ionosphere was billowing, etc. etc.

Susie, who can barely see and sometimes googles answers to your quiz, but then does terribly anyway...has found, I do believe, an error......
That last q, I think the correct answer is Whitmman...and you have it as Wordsworth...and so, that would technically give me 100% even though I googled on my second attempt to make SURE I wasnt psycho...ok....let me know, is Wiki right, or is Logo right?:P

ANd BTW, the Desire quote...perfect absolutely perfect....

Who turned out the lights?!

SO i guess the googling disqualifies me?

YA THINK?

Hey...yes. The last one I am absolutely certain gives you a wrong for teh right answer. I checked Whitman as well and got wrong. Maybe they both wrote a poem with the same title...I am off googling!

I agree - that last one should be Whitman. My prefessor spent a month in character to teach us about him - was WILD!!

So, I should have a big ol 50%!!!

Bare~ Cuz you are blind, funny, and like my Auden quotes I will let the googling go this time.
Sorry about that, yeah, Wiki is right, hon.

Monika~ Hope you didn't waste too long googling, you were right. I misclicked in the answer choosing phase.

Snavy~ That must have been weird, I like it!

Those are great quotes. I'll have to get to know Auden.

Even with the word of warning, written to beware:
With nine replies wrung from his mind which turned once more to air
In clear and sorry lapse of thought, he held Whitman aloft
Ws can't be kept straight when rememories goes soft.

Grunt~ Score! I am so gonna hang out behind the gym with the kids who are smoking.

Doug~ You are a word lover, a poet, and a curmudeon, you are lucky I am married, I would so be stalking you.

Lime~ Amazing, a 90, with only one very easy to make error AND while on pain meds, wow. You are awesome.

I got 20% but techinically 30% 'cause I knew the Whitman one. That might have been the only one I actually knew. I think I'm going to go back to doing my homework now that I've proven my lack of worth in the English literary world.

I really got an 80%, honest teacher! I still can't get over YOUR making a mistake!!!

Cricket~ I think you did well, it was obscure, I will do better next week, promise.

Weirsdo~ I know, we are all struggling to face my fallability, I guess I was not quiz writing ex cathedra.

i performed horribly on this quiz. i guess poetry is not my thing....maybe if it had something to do about food, then...

Guggs~ Donate a question for next week, I promise it will be better next week.
