and everyone must breathe until their dying breath

I am LOVING my Regina Spektor CD.
Here is one of the songs I am especially enjoying at the moment.
I drove about 500 miles this weekend and so I got to hear it alot!

"On The Radio"
This is how it works
It feels a little worse
Than when we drove our hearse
Right through that screaming crowd
While laughing up a storm
Until we were just bone
Until it got so warm
That none of us could sleep
And all the styrofoam
Began to melt away
We tried to find some words
To aid in the decay
But none of them were home
Inside their catacomb
A million ancient bees
Began to sting our knees
While we were on our knees
Praying that disease
Would leave the ones we love
And never come again
On the radio
We heard November Rain
That solo's really long
But it's a pretty song
We listened to it twice
'Cause the DJ was asleep
This is how it works
You're young until you're not
You love until you don't
You try until you can't
You laugh until you cry
You cry until you laugh
And everyone must breathe
Until their dying breath
No, this is how it works
You peer inside yourself
You take the things you like
And try to love the things you took
And then you take that love you made
And stick it into some
Someone else's heart
Pumping someone else's blood
And walking arm in arm
You hope it don't get harmed
But even if it does
You'll just do it all again
And on the radio
You hear November Rain
That solo's awful long
But it's a good refrain
You listen to it twice
'Cause the DJ is asleep
On the radio (oh oh oh)
On the radio
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio - uh oh
On the radio

Joe~ Oh good, I am glad someone else liked it too.

I dropped the Things off at my folk's place Thursday then drove to run some errands south, then went home. Friday I went to Seattle and drove all around, Saturday was alot quieter but Sunday I drove east about 50 miles, then went to the Seattle area, then came home, then went to my parents again and then home. It's not just me is it? Sometimes it seems like how goood the available music on the radio is determined in an inverse way by how far I have to go. A quick trip to the store and I end up wanting to stay in the car to finish a great song I hardly ever here, have a couple hours of driving ahead an I can scan the stations forEVER. Thank goodness Regina was along to save me!

I am also loving that cd - and particularly that song! It's one of my faves. I was wearing that one out a month or so back, time to pull it out for the ride home...

Can't get the video from the office.

I may have to get her CD. She sounds kind of like Jem, whom I also really like.

So like is no one going to say a single WORD about what may possibly be the best part of that entire song? The children? Helllloooo, people. Are we uh-WAKE? That one little cutie who was sucking on her thumb. Oh my goodness. Tuke Ute! Love the lyrics to this song. Thank you, Logophile for filling me just a lot bit more. Oh, and one thing. Just one thing: As an apiarist myself, I cannot let this go. There is no such thing as an ancient bee. At nectar flow they live but a few weeks at most. Some die in a week. The luckier ones can manage to live through an entire winter. But that's about as ancient as a bee gets. Honeybees, anyway.

That was my least favorite line. But not as bad as Morisette's ecclisiastic skin. Fut the wuck it THAT supposed to be! Fried Church Chicken?

No way.

This is my first stop by your blog, and then I read your opening sentence and think, "Yea! Regina Spektor has made my last six months." I pop that CD into my work computer, and it makes hours pass.

Gawpo~ Are they not precious? Are they not cute as can fricking BE?!?! I loved that too. And um, dahling, I think the ancient bees were perhaps metaphorical in nature, ya know, not literal. Ecclesiastic skin, I thought that was a leather bible cover.

Jocelyn!! Welcome, kindred soul, to my bloggy blog, stay a while and enjoy!

Pointful Princess~ OMG, I just realized I missed you. YIKES, sorry to skip you in the replies, it must be all Blogger's fault, I am much too thoughtful to ever do that :p
I wish I could join you for that concert, would be so great! Welcome

Nope. Not buyin' it for a dallah. Bees cannot be metaphorized. It's in the contract. They have to remain litteral in all facets of existence. That just has to.........bee. (sorry. not really.)

Then say, "Biblical skin," or "Scriptural skin." Not, "Churchical skin." Crimminy. It is so off the wall meaningless that it has made people invent something so they can bring some sort of forged passport to sneak it in. Nawght gun dew-it. Nawght prudent at this junk-chure.

Her voice is so cool and now I'm hooked on her. The one song just gets in your head and doesn't leave. She's pretty easy on the eyes too, but it's all about the writing and the voice. Regina, you make my heart flutter.
