Birthday time again

In 1996 while Mr. Logo was having fun aboard the Big Grey Boat cruise of the Strait of Taiwan
I was busy having a baby.
And even if I do say so myself, I did an awfully good job of it.

After less than 5 hours of labor I had a 7 1/2 pound male child

who we named after Mr. Logo's grandfather, sorta.

Thing One's is in fact a family name, betcha didn't know THAT.

Despite his red, curly hair in many key ways he actually seems to favor his father.

Here you see his early appreciation of cleaning products and utensils, something I certainly never have developed an affection for, only a certain reserved understanding.
See that mischievous look? Also straight from his father.
Devil inside.

He is smart, and funny, and sweet.

He is a gentleman, and a crackpot, and a precious.

He is a great storyteller, a good friend, an excellent tea maker, and an incredible chef.

He is sometimes startlingly wise and kind and never ceases to amaze me.

It's been a great eleven years.

Hope you have a fabulous birthday, Thing One.
I am really rather fond of you.

i am completely misty-eyed here. such a sweet sentiment (oh, how i remember feeling this way about my own boys, back in the day... d'oh!)

you say he favors his dad, but i hate to break it to you, my friend, that gorgeous lad looks just like you! from your description, it sounds like he's managed to glean more than a few lovely personality traits from you, as well (that affection for cleaning products, notwithstanding).

Happy 11th Birthday Thing One! hope your day is nothing short of spectacular! xox

Thank you for your lovely happy birthday wishes.

BUT, I am now eleven and not appreciating the "aaaw, so cute, etc etc" bleck!

BUT, I am thankful that you wished me happy birthday.

Eh, he's a keeper. And, Logo is correct, he's a great deal more like his father in personality. He loves fishing. Loves the motorcycle adventures and prefers his hair short. He keeps an immaculately clean kitchen as well as makes one TASTY lasagna! Ahhhh...what a good lad!

I'm glad you're fond of him. I mean someone has to be right? He's all grown up now. Pretty soon he'll be applying for colleges in the big city.

Happy Belated Birthday Thing One!!! I'm a bit behind on my blog reading. You appear to be the most darling of babies from the pictures and you seem to be getting more and more handsome by the day!!
